Cold, rain, wind... What better conditions for our last regular season tournament? Godwin and Walker claimed first place at Loch Raven in this final regular season tourney of the year. Ian and Ian capped the win with a 4.51 LB largemouth caught in the last seconds of the tourney. That fish increased their weight to 25.07 LBS, and gave them 1/2 share of the Lunker largemouth purse. Second place honors went to the team of Ghangi and Kosdemba who had a limit weighing 24.12 LBs and a Lunker largemouth weighing 4.51 Lbs. In third place was the team of Elliott and Rini with a 21.97 LB limit of largemouth bass. The 1.86 LB Lunker Smallmouth was caught by the team of Barger and Cleary. Congratulations to Ian, Ian, Gary, Don, Matt, Victor, Larry, and Cliff.. Thanks to all participants on this weather challenged day!
Also, Congratulations to the top 11 teams for making the TOC!
The last regular season tournament will be tomorrow 10/3 at Loch Raven. Its hard to believe the season has gone so fast. We will have weather to contend with. However the forecast seems to be improving. Check your bilge pumps and rain gear. They will probably get a workout tomorrow.
Just a reminder that everyone needs to weigh-in. The AOY and TOC rankings will be effected, and it is important that everyone weighs their fish tomorrow, (even if its only one 12 inch fish). As always, I look forward to seeing you all on the water. The safety of each team is the responsibility of that team. Make good safe choices so we can have a great tournament.
See you at registration!
Prettyboy champs Craig Gordon and Holden Wolfe, who are leading the Angler of the Year race by 7 points, are the first MRA team to reach 100 LBS, this season. With 5 events complete, Craig and Holden have averaged just over 20 pounds per tournament, and have brought an 8 fish limit to the scales in every event. The team of Gordon & Wolfe have been a model of consistency, placing no less than 6th in any event this season, including two tournament victories! The 2015 season seems to be an extension of the 2014 season for Craig and Holden, as they closed last season with a win in the Tournament of Champions! One more regular season event remains...
A windy day was just what the doctor ordered for several of the teams at our Prettyboy tournament. This tournament yielded some very nice bags and an MRA all-time Record! The team of Gordon and Wolfe claimed the top prize with an impressive weight of 21.09 Lbs. This elevated Craig and Holden into the lead for AOY points, with only 1 regular season event remaining. Second place honors went to the team of Anderson and Wolfe with a 19.67 LB limit. Close behind with 19.60 LBS, was the team of Malinowski and Smith, who claimed third place and also grabbed the Lunker Smallmouth prize with a beautiful 3.43 LB Prettyboy smallie. The Lunker Largemouth, and new MRA largest fish record, was caught by Max Marchant of the team of Marchant and Marchant (fishing with substitute Dale Davis). The 6.64 LB largemouth is Max’s lifetime personal best Largemouth.
Congratulations to Craig, Holden, Waino, Ron, Mel, Brian, Max and Dale!
The Loch Raven Weekday Warrior tournament was, by all accounts, a record breaker. Incredibly, the top 5 teams brought a cumulative weight of 133.05 LBs of Loch Raven Largemouth bass to the scales! Leading the group was the team of Ghangi and Kosdemba, who took first place with 30.52 Lbs. This was the biggest tournament bag recorded by this team which has been a longtime Loch Raven standout. In second place was the team of Wisner and Onheiser with 26.76 Lbs. Wisner and Onheiser won the lunker prize with a 6.10 Lb. largemouth. Close behind, in third place, was the team of Eaton and Holmes, with 26.49 Lbs. In fourth place was the team of Elliott and Rini, with 24.76 Lbs. The fifth largest bag was weighed by the team of Decote and Floyd. This bag weighed an impressive 24.52 Lbs. Finally, every bass that was brought to the scales was returned to the reservoir alive and well. Congratulations to these teams for their stellar performances. Thanks to all of the participants.

Loch Raven Reservoir Saturday August 1st:
The weigh-in at MRA’s 3rd (regular season) tournament of the 2015 season provided an interesting blend of big bass and a small numbers of 8-fish limits. 8 Lunkers over four pounds, (two over 5 pounds), displayed no lack of quality in the bass brought to the scales. However, only 8 teams were able to bring a limit of bass to the scales. The 96 fish weighed-in averaged a healthy 2.48 Lbs. Congratulations to the team of Craig Gordon and Holden Wolfe for their first place finish with an impressive total weight of 26.89 Lbs. Second place was claimed by Mike Atwood and Jess Weeks with a healthy 21.46 pound limit of Loch Raven Largemouth bass. Very close behind in third place was the team of Bob Standiford and Brian McQuaid with 21.17 Lbs. The Largemouth Lunker prize went to Bob Standiford and Brian McQuaid for their beautiful 5.09 Lb beast. There were no smallmouth bass brought to the scales.
Congratulations to Craig, Holden, Mike, Jess, Bob, and Brian for a great effort!
A special note of thanks goes out to Mike Ahfeldt and Shane Lawson for a great demonstration of sportsmanship. Mike and Shane towed Larry Barger and Cliff Cleary 4 miles back to the ramp, after Larry’s engine failed early in the day.
Finally, fish care was very good on this hot day. 94 of the 96 bass weighed-in were released into Loch Raven alive and well.
Thanks again to everyone who assisted with morning sign-in and with the afternoon weigh-in.
We hope to see everyone at the Weekday Warrior tournament at Prettyboy on Wednesday 8/12/15.
