Earlier this year I was fishing at a point off of Beckleysville rd where I had a conversation with someone who frequently fishes the reservoir. I brought up the Hybrid Stripers that I had heard were stocked here some time, and he mentioned that the DNR had experimented with Tiger Muskie too.
Now, I have never seen nor heard of Tiger Muskie being caught a Prettyboy (then again I am 19 and have only been fishing at PB for five or so years), but the mention of them made me remember something that happened to a buddy of mine two years ago. He was using large shiners from the shore at a point the branch fed by Georges Run, and his reel started screaming and his rod lurched forward out of its holder. By the time he grabbed it to set the hook, however, it was dead slack. Reeling it in revealed that the bait and the hook were both gone, and the line (I believe 12lb mono) was frayed at the end as if a Pike or Pickerel had bitten through it. He was also using a double palomar nor was there evidence of the knot coming undone. Of course, as far as I know, there are no Pike nor Pickerel in Prettyboy, but I am ready to believe that whatever cut through the line was a Tiger Muskie if they were indeed stocked into the reservoir at some point.
Furthermore, the Pocket Guide to Boating and Fishing (2009) for Baltimore City Reservoirs states that Tiger Muskie are stocked in Prettyboy, on page 18. http://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/sites/default/files/Boating%20and%2...
That all said, has anyone here seen or caught (or heard of being seen or caught) Tiger Muskie in Prettyboy?
