With temps expected to be in the low 50s and sunny skies ( welcomed this time of year) I had to venture out for the last trip of the year! At least I could draw the batteries down one more time before charging for the winter. I decided to head to The mouth of George's to try a little silver buddy action, and right on the first point I saw the baitfish on the depth finder just right off the bottom at 42feet. In about 15 minutes I had my first smallmouth that was 16" I love it when a plan comes together !!! Guess I'll try another hotspot and fish around George's island. I could mark fish but no takers. After about 4 hours of futility and 10 more "hotspots" I decide to go back to the first spot and on the first cast my 2nd smallie of the day! It also turned out to be my last fish of 2014. I guess I'll call it a successful outing for this time of year. Anytime you can get out for a nice stress free day of fishing or just taking the time to see what nature has to offer can't be a bad thing! Can't wait till March!!
