Hi I just recently bought my first boat i have a 12' boat with 55 lb thrust trolling motor. Is that Big enough for liberty and pretty boy? I may be interested in getting in a few torney would that small of a boat be out of place?
A 12' is ok for general fishing but probably not for tournaments. If winds are over 10 mph it could be a little dangerous. I think it would also be a little tough with 2 adults and a 100 quart livewell.
Oh well I guess I will just fish for fun it has a cooler built into the deck not sure its a 100 Wtf though. Just thought it could be fun to join your club. I'm going to try the boat with 2 adults for the first time this weekend I've had the kids out a bunch
The first boat I owned was a 12' Jon. I used it on Loch Raven in the early 70s. My brother and I had a great time with it, fishing for fun. We were careful to watch the weather forecast. Our reservoirs can be pretty nasty when the wind is blowing. I know I have been on the water in my 16' tournament boat, in high winds, wishing I had a bigger boat. (or wishing my boat was on the trailer in my driveway and I was home watching TV.) It is not unusual to have bad weather on a tournament day. Last year, we had 50 mph winds during the tournament of champions. For safety reasons, I strongly recommend a larger boat for tournaments. Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy your boat.
