We all hate those annoying loops we get on spinning reels. If you don't see the loop when you make the next cast, what a mess. One way to help with this problem is to always remember to close the bail manually. Once you get used to this ( for me it took some time ) it becomes second nature. Now after I make a cast and close the bail manually I then check the drag by pulling out some line. This also helps keep the line tight to the spool , making your next cast less likely to have problems. Another benefit by closing the bail by hand is it allows you to see any loops and address them before they cause a problem. Good Luck.
I find it particularly important to use this approach when I am using fluorocarbon line on my spinning reels. However, this is great advice for any line type.
Great tips on manually closing the bail. I have been doing in for 4 years and its a habit now. Another way to help with looping with fluorocarbon is to pull a washer or 2 from under your spool. It will make a slight cone with the wide part being at the top. It helps keep the line from 'jumping' off the spool.
