Loch Raven is closing early

Loch Raven is closing at the end of October this year. Some local anglers contacted the right official and have been told if they get enough signatures, the decision to close at the end of October would be overturned. In recent history, Loch Raven has stayed open, on weekends, through the month of November. There is a petition at Anglers Express in Timonium. I have been asked by Tyler Judd (you can find him on facebook, he's leading this effort) to ask for the help of interested parties by making this MRA announcement.

I went down to Anglers
I went down to Anglers Express and signed the petition, I hope it helps!! If the people that make these decisions assume we don't care then it could set a precedent to close or delay openings as they seem fit!
I will sign today. Very sad
I will sign today. Very sad this is even an issue. If they want to save money I suggest closing the fishing center permanently and just have ramp access. Or relocate the ramp. Permits could be mailed just like Liberty and Prettyboy. There's nothing inside the facility anyway. Maybe Anglers Express could open a second location at building and take over day to day operations? Just my two cents.

Craig that is old news. If
Craig that is old news. If you caught the Baltimore Sun article i had them write along with the Towson Times it states that they changed it on the website after the two Senators who i have been dealing with approached the county to get this hopefully reversed. They changed it mid October this year, after apparently they had made this decision last year but forgot to update website calling it a "clerical error" (see Batimore Sun article I will attach). The petition was at Anglers Express for two weeks, It got a ton of permit holder signatures. I had my last big meeting in Towson with the two Senators i've been dealing with last week. At this point we have the Towson Times, Baltimore Sun and a few politicians pulling for us. They said everythings marked time sensitive and would get back to me whenever that is. If the outcome is negative we also have a counter proposal lined up that the county can't refuse. If it is refused it shows some corruption down the line. I will keep everyone posted whenever i hear anything. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-county/towson/ph-tt-...

Final Loch Raven Update: We
Final Loch Raven Update: I won a hard fought out battle and settled on a compromise. Instead of Loch Raven being open the usual saturdays and sundays in November, Loch Raven will now be open on saturdays only in November. Despite most people saying i was wasting my time, have fun fishing the rest of the month out. (I work saturdays so that's typical they chose saturdays instead of sundays but i will try to be out there for a few hours in the morning each weekend).

Nice work Tyler. Thanks for
Nice work Tyler. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks Walt,
Thanks Walt,
It was suggested sometime in the future i should get a group of 4 or 5 guys together to meet with Chris McCollumn and Barry Williams (the two high ups at Parks and Rec we've been dealing with) to discuss moving forward to possibly get sundays back next november too. The offices i have been dealing with can't get involved in this part but if we were to get ahold of the list of 750 permitt holders, they're under the impression it's public record. They suggested getting 1/3 - 1/2 of Loch permit holders to agree that if permits were raised to $100 a year from $60 a year they would do saturdays and sundays. That's $40 x 750 Loch permit holders = $30,000 surplus (the offer they can't refuse, but we'll see). This could possibly go towards a new ramp going down Pierces field for permit holders, etc. We would need to get around 300-375 signatures agreeing to the price hike. If everyone from EBA and Metro signed this new petition down the road after this round table meeting is set (whenever this new meeting may be set in the future), it would knock a large chunk off the 300-375 signatures. This is where we're at now the end of this November.
