Congratulations to the team of Craig Gordon and Holden Wolfe for capturing the 2012 Metro Reservoir Anglers - Anglers of the Year Title!
Craig and Holden are living proof that hard work and dedication pays off. Years of practice and competition have led them to this tiltle. How many times do you see Holden and Craig practicing at the same time on the same lake in seperate boats? They forgo the opportunity to have fun together so they can maximize their learning curve by fishing different places and then combining their results.
Another lesson this team is teaching is the value of consistency. Their AOY title comes without a single tournament victory. Instead, consistent top finishes including two second place finishes, a third, fourth, fifth, and tenth place finish (what happened???) accounted for their outstanding year. What is even more impressive (in my opinion) is the fact that they weighed-in an eight fish limit in five of the six tournaments and had seven fish in their other tournament!
What goes around comes around and good things happen to good people. As most of you are aware, Craig is responsible for the design and maintenance of this wonderful website. What many of you don't know is that Holden had previously volunteered to serve on the MRA committee for 2013. So in addition to all their hard work regarding their fishing, they are also generous with their time and dedication to the MRA.
Let's also take this opportunitry to recognize the teams of Barger and Wilson and Gangi and Kosdemba for their great year of fishing. As of the publishing of this story I do not have the final points listing for the year, but the race for AOY was right down to the wire and all three of these teams fished unbelievably well throughout the entire course of the season.
Finally, let's recognize all of the participants in the MRA for the season. It is a pleasure to be able to share a day on the lake with all of you. The chance to share our stories, our successes and of course, the heartbreaks of losing the one-that-got-away makes competitive fishing so much more exciting than just a day on the lake. I look foraward to seeing on the lake the rest of this season and next season as well!
