While I'm thinking of how to approach this upcoming fishing season I thought it would be a great idea to provide a helpful tip to someone who is learning to fish the reservoirs. It doesn't have to be some top secret information, just something that a beginning angler could use to make his or her experience that much better. A parent might want to take their children bank fishing for panfish! Or first time boat rentals at the Loch might want to try for bass and pickerel! I'll start with a couple of tips and hope other members will follow!!
Tip 1: When renting a boat at Loch Raven or fishing out of a boat with a small motor. Pay close attention to wind direction when planning your day. Go against the wind in morning so you can use the wind to aid coming in at the end of the day!
Tip 2: When fishing from the bank use shallower running baits especially when grass is an issue. Fish early and late to take advantage of top water baits in these areas!!
Tip 3: No Lure is worth the price of a Life!! I see people walking out on downed trees to retrieve a lure where the water is 20-40 feet below! Don't do it!
Tip 4: When planning to take children bank fishing, scout areas for safety first (steep banks, sticker bushes etc.) this will provide a less stressful trip!!!
I will add more tips later as well!
Good Luck to all!
