Finally after the long winter it was time for the first outing of the year, and what a trip it was. Dana Seipp and I decided to head to the Loch because it would have the warmer water temps of the 3 reservoirs. Of course the wind made boat control an adventure with a 12 volt trolling motor!!! And to top it off I left my trusty soft plastic worms at home! Dana started the day with the first 3 bass including a solid 4 pounder. I started with a pickerel then caught a monster Carp on a jerk bait! I thought I had a state record smallmouth! After both of us catching quality bass all morning,I decided to try a crank-bait and on the second cast WHAM! Giant carp that is,tail hooked and what a fight!!! Ok now back to fishing. Head into another cove and Bang here we go again another big fish!! This time it was a Bass, a 6 pounder at that!! What a day! Total for the day 19 bass ( best 8 solid 26lbs) 40+ chain pickerel and two giant carp!!! Definitely a fun day on the water plus the boat ran great as well!! Worms who needs em anyway.
