Our 2016 tournament season got off to a fine start at Prettyboy reservoir on Sunday. Congratulations go out to our top 3 finishers. The team of Matt Elliot and Vic Rini claimed first place with a 6 fish bag weighing an impressive 20.32 Lbs. Second place was claimed by Craig Gordon and Holden Wolfe with an 8 fish limit weighing 16.62 Lbs. Mike Atwood and Jess Weeks won the third place prize with an 8 fish limit weighing 14.59 Lbs. The 4.92 Lb. lunker largemouth was brought in by Matt Elliot and Vic Rini. Chad Wisner and Leonard Wisner claimed the lunker smallmouth prize with a 3.68 Lb. smallmouth.
With only three 8-fish limits brought to the scales, this was certainly a challenging day of fishing for all. Congratulations to all who competed!
Thanks to the spectators who came to our weigh-in. Your participation is appreciated and enjoyed.
Our June 26th Tournament, at Prettyboy Reservoir, is just around the corner! Our strong field of top reservoir anglers will make for a very competitive season.
Be advised, our last practice day on Prettyboy will be Wednesday, June 22. After that, Prettyboy reservoir will be off-limits to all Metro anglers, until tournament day.
There is always an open invitation to the public to attend our 4:00 PM weigh-in (at the Prettyboy ramp).
We look forward to seeing all of you at the tournament.

I am concerned with this years Largemouth and Smallmouth spawn. This season the bass had started on beds by the 20th of April at Prettyboy reservoir. Prettyboy is usually a week behind Liberty and Loch Raven. This was the earliest I have seen bass on beds at PB. Typically the first week of May until the last week of May. I see the big smallies in their usual bedding areas. At the final weeks of May is when I see BASS fry with an adult bass close by. This year I have yet to see fry at any of the three reservoirs. This is what concerns me, I think with the colder temperatures after the bass had " moved up" and water temperatures staying below 60 degrees and no sunshine. I believe the eggs may have not survived. Has anyone seen any fry at any of the reservoirs this year? Or does anybody have a different theory?

My second time out this year was much better than the first trip 6 weeks ago. Of course the water temps were the main reason( from 41 to 60 degrees) this time out! And no issues with lost keys and spilled coffee. The smallies were cooperating for the first half of the day! 20 smallmouth and just one largemouth! Most of the smallmouth were 2 to 3 1/2 lbs,and one 6 lb. Giant!!! Prettyboy to me has the best population of large smallmouth, and I love their aggressive attitude. Please read my blog "bedding fish" so we can all help ease the pressure on these beautiful fish in this special time of year. Now I just have to learn how to find them " Tournament time."
In the past few weeks, MRA has received a number of submissions from anglers who want to fish with us. They are offering to become a co-angler for a member (or prospective member) who wants to complete, but needs a partner.
If you need a co-angler, respond by email to: email@example.com and we'll supply contact information, so you can talk to the candidates.
