I am very saddened to announce that the Metro Reservoir Anglers lost one of it's longest standing members and best guys today, Mr. Butch Wilson. Butch passed away early in the morning on Saturday, January 3rd.
Butch was a longtime bass fisherman and tournament angler. He will forever be remembered sitting in the back seat of Larry Barger's boat and bringing in those big bags of bass to the scales. Together, Butch and Larry were one of the all-time leading teams in the MRA. You knew the tournament was never over until they weighed their fish.
There are no plans for a memorial service at Butch's request. Instead, just think fondly of one of the nicest guys to ever grace the reservoirs and remember him the next time you land a fish.

On my last trip to Liberty and temps around 20 degrees I put my cellphone on the deck of my boat as I usually do,so it is always close at hand. On this day we decided to make the run to the canyon area which for my boat takes a little over an hour at 3/4 speed. When we reached our destination I got a text from my wife, and when I went to reply my phone shut down due to low battery. I always make sure my phone is fully charged before I go fishing. So it had to be the below freezing temps that took their toll on my phone! After that I put the phone back in my coat pocket with my handwarmers next to it. About an hour later I checked my phone and guess what? It was fully charged !!! So the lesson I learned is keep your phone out of the cold temperatures. Also if this should happen to you, don't panic, as long as your phone had a decent charge it should be ok. I hope this helps! See you on the water.

Hi Everyone ! You can tell I haven't been on the water for way to long.
So I figured I would come up with my version of the 12 days of Christmas for some holiday humor!
On the first day of Christmas the bass genie gave to me!
A big bass in a lay down tree
2 Zara spooks
5 I--G--Bs. (Isolated grass beds)
6 Bags of worms
7 Swim baits swimming
8 Big bass limit
9 Sunken brush piles
10 Lunkers leaping
11 New hotspots
12 Miles per hour.
It sounds better if you sing it!! Merry Christmas to all.
